The Northwest Angle area is rich
in bird life; 275 species spend some time here each year, ranging
from numerous white pelicans, loons, eagles, and ospreys to the
more rarely seen Connecticut warbler, common tern, and Great
Gray owl. Because of the great geographical
variety of this Canadian Shield lake, birds that prefer the shoreline,
diving ducks, as well as birds that inhabit coniferous and deciduous
forests, are all able to find the habitat of their preference.
In addition, there are several rookeries of gulls, pelicans,
cormorants, and Great Blue herons
in our vicinity. Beginning birdwatchers will find the diversity
of species exciting. For the experienced birder, the Northwest
Angle offers a great opportunity to add some of the more sought
after species to their life list.
Scenic and bird watching boat tours can be arranged at the
resort.
